March 10th 2011 – London’s Emirates Stadium will host yet another glamorous international fixture on March 27th when Scotland take on five-time World Cup winners Brazil. The game is being played as part of the Brazil World Tour and is anticipated to attract a sell out crowd.
This is the 10th time the two teams have met in both competitive and friendly fixtures with Scotland looking to secure their first victory against the South American giants. Brazil is clearly intent on maintaining their unbeaten record against the Tartan Army with manager …

Craig Levein named a youthful and mainly English based squad of 22 today  for the coming games in the Carling Nations Cup (also called the Celtic Cup).
All of the home nations (barring England) will compete in a round robin competition of 6 games starting February 8 and February 9 and finishing at the end of May.
Levein has handed first call ups to Grant Hanley (Blackburn), Chris Maguire (Aberdeen) and Robert Snodgrass (Leeds United) and seems confident of his squads chances in the tournament saying :
“From day one my intention was …

In a testament to how dull and insular Scottish Football can truly be another “scandal” has reached its natural zenith in Caledonia. The tediously named “Ref-Gate” fur ore has been gently simmering for the past few months with Celtic and Neil Lennon in particular stoking the flames to over boiling point.
The end result is today’s announcement that Scotland’s first grade officials intend to strike in response to the “Avalanche of flack” they have received in recent times. They cite a concern for public safety (a recognized hazard of the profession …

Goals from Danny Wilson, Kris Commons and Jamie Mackie, all in the first-half, gave Craig Levein his third win from his seven matches as Scotland boss, against the Faroe Islands at Pittodrie.
Levein was forced into nine changes on Monday to his squad after a number of injuries picked up over the weekend’s games. Craig Gordon returned in goal, Danny Wilson made his international debut along with Barry Bannan who started in midfield and has put himself in Craig Levein’s long-term plans after an excellent display.

After an early wake-up call when …

It’s a no-win situation for Scotland manager Craig Levein tomorrow night as his depleted side takes on Brian Kerr’s Faroe Islands at Pittdorie.
The timing of the friendly has come under criticism from many domestic managers with most teams facing a grueling domestic schedule at this time of year.
Levein has been forced into a number of changes for tomorrow’s game and the Scotland boss was faced with even more problems when there were 9 extra call-offs after this weekend’s fixtures. Rangers boss Walter Smith requested that Levein left out a few …

Scotland’s 3-0 humbling at the hands of Sweden on Wednesday night served as a reminder of the task ahead if they are to qualify for their first major tournament since France 1998.
Craig Levein may take cold comfort from the fact that it was only a “meaningless friendly” but the ease in which his defence was ripped apart should be a worry.
A largely inexperienced back four of Broadfoot Kenneth, Berra, Wallace found it difficult to match the mobility of Sweden and their returning hero Zlatan Ibrahimovich. The Barcelona striker slotted home …

The long shorts are dark blue in colour again with the adidas stripes and the socks yellow, alike the shirt.

While the great and good of International battle for the World Cup in South Africa this summer the lesser talented nations will look on green with envy.
Unfortunately, yet again Scotland have failed to reach the pinnacle of International football, the recent qualification campaign was a mixed bag of disaster, farce, ineptitude and depression. Eventually, the Scottish Football Association (SFA) realized that George Burley was not the man to lead us to greener pastures and he was summarily executed (figuratively speaking). However where before deep depression reigned, optimism has taken its …

Scotland recorded their first friendly victory at Hampden Park for over 14 years with a 1-0 victory over future Group I opponents the Czech Republic.
Scott Brown slotted home from a Barry Robson header in 62 minutes and it was enough to record a rare friendly victory for Scotland. Earlier Vaclav Sverkos had several shots saved by Craig Gordon and Graeme Dorrans cleared a shot of the Scotland goal line in a game that was largely dominated by the Czech’s.
The game was a night of firsts; the first game for new …

Not since Argentina 1978 have Scotland and Adidas teamed up to produce a playing kit, the Tartan Army should hope that it signals a return to former glories.

The iconic “Three stripes” was last worn on international duty by such players as Kenny Dalglish, Joe Jordan and Denis Law lets hope that our current crop of players can emulate these former greats.

The new long sleeve tops are simple in design keeping the famous dark blue and sport the Scotland crest at the heart and emboldened large across the chest. The shirts …
